Underground Eatery | Scentsy Commons

Scentsy's on-campus kitchen needed a name and a logo to go with it. I collaborated with an art director on the initial concept direction, then took the project through refinement and final handoff when the project landed on my desk to complete. The logo centers on a clever typographic solution where the fork becomes part of the letterform, giving the wordmark a visual anchor that ties directly to the space it represents. After handoff, the logo was produced as dimensional wall signage, applied to menu boards, uniforms and used across the kitchen at Scentsy Commons.

FireSlide Campfire Grills

A client came to me with a prototype campfire grill he was getting ready to patent and take to production. He needed a logo that could grow with the brand. He had a clear vision for the style: specific typography paired with an illustration of the grill that captured the movement and mechanics of his design. I created a full logo system in Illustrator including a standalone wordmark, an illustrated logo mark and a monogram, with variations for dark, light and colored backgrounds to cover whatever packaging, print or digital needs came up down the road.

Sendero Briards

This one started with a birthday. The former Cabela's CEO and his wife raise Briard dogs under the name Sendero Briards, and she commissioned an illustration for her 50th birthday celebration. The illustration ended up on custom LL Bean tote bags, tee shirts, drink koozies, beach towels and fly fishing fly box decals. It was pretty elaborate. A few smaller illustration projects followed, and eventually she wanted the original illustration formalized into a logo. I designed a primary logo built around the illustration and a secondary mark for situations where a simpler version made more sense. She wanted a nod to her southern roots, so I brought in magnolia flowers and a soft blue that tied the warmth of the typography and illustration together.

PaPer Dolls Salon

The clients were a stylist duo who were deep into steampunk and wanted their brand to reflect it. I traded salon services for design services, which felt very on brand for the project. I worked from an existing font and customized the letterforms, then hand-illustrated a pair of shears to complete the mark. The logo was used for signage and business cards. Looking back, the overall execution had its rough edges, but the logo itself is still one of my favorites. Some things just work.
